Legacy of a Great Son of India

I had posted a blog on BABA AMTE in FEB 2008 when the great soul departed. To day I heard the news that his son Prakash Amte and his daughter in law(both are Doctors) have been chosen for MAGSASAY AWARD this year for their outstanding contribution to the Soceity. What a fitting tribute! Many leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru left behind their heirs as permanent liabilities to the soceity and the country. Here is a Great Man who has left behind a son who is continuing his father's social service. Mother India has also delivered sons who can wipe off her tears.

I reproduce my old Blog hereunder.

The country has lost a great leader and Social Activist. Many millionnaires who participated in freedom struggle decided to plunge into politics and imposed their heirs on this country as permanent liabilities. This great soul chose the path of service and served leprosy patients .Both his sons are doctors and uphold father's legacy in serving humanity. Last month there was much debate about Bharath Ratna. Nobody mentioned Baba Amte's name. Somehow this country gets leaders which it never deserves.

May his soul rest in peace. Serving poor and needy is the homage we can pay to him.
